Welcome to the Chain Story. It’s a home for free fiction through which you’ll be introduced to authors new and old. Every two weeks the project will offer you a new story absolutely free. To get that story all you have to do is click through to the author’s website and download it. It’s yours to collect and read at your leisure.

Why are we calling it the “Chain Story?” To be philosophical about it, the stories being offered are the latest in a long chain of stories dating back nearly a century—and further if, as some folks do, you include the epics of Homer and Beowulf or tales of Arthur and his Knights as qualifying in this heroic tradition. More directly, however, each author is including a tidbit from a larger story in their tale, a story which will expand and unfold as the project progresses. You’ll get a hint in one story, a decent helping of information in another. Over the project’s life you’ll it all come together, and you get to enjoy plenty of entertaining stories as you go.

We’re very glad you’ve found your way here. The writers involved in this project are seasoned storytellers and talented newcomers who just want to share their stories with you. They also hope you’ll be intrigued enough to want to buy and read more of their work. If you love the characters and the worlds you discover here, there are plenty more adventures for you to enjoy.
